23 weeks...and growing

How Far Along: 23 weeks
Baby Size: Papaya, 8in, 1.2lbs
Total Weight Gain: 12 lbs
Clothes: I can still wear a lot of my dresses that aren't fitted, Pants, um, yeah pretty much.  Tops I can still where some that are non-maternity, but maternity tops are starting to look a little better as the ole tum-tum rounds on out.
Best Moment This Week:  Watching my Steve feel our little Hughes move for the first time.  This has been something I've been able to enjoy for weeks now, but it was just as amazing to watch Daddy-O get to experience it too.
Gender: Sweet baby boy, Samuel Hughes Oglesby.  Our little man will go by Hughes.
Movement: Hughes is quite the active one, I believe I'm going to go through several pairs of running shoes chasing this kid around!
Food Cravings: I just love food ;)
What I miss:  You know, I don't really miss anything this week.  I'm really enjoying this phase in my pregnancy.  Generally, I'm in an excellent mood, I feel great, and am so thankful for this opportunity.
Sleep:  Went back to work so when I get myself in bed I sleep pretty well, other than that one spot in my back that likes to bother me if I sleep on my side.
What I am looking forward to: Getting bedding made and shipment that has a quilt from etsy :)  I hear my sweet friend making the bedding has the bumper done!!
Belly Button: IN (Hallerlujah! as Medea would say), it is slowly getting smaller though, and at times a little sore.

Have a good daisy!

What I am looking forward to: Getting bedding made and shipment that has a quilt from etsy :)

Nursery News...Issue 2

After
Making room for someone else to live in your house (even a tiny someone) is kind of hard.  Don't get me excited I'm over the moon already for my little Hughes, but I've been forced to clean out pretty much every square inch that I have "stored" stuff.  I mean really how much stuff can 2 people accumulate?  Anyway, I've been wanting my darling, handsome hunk of a man to build a closet tower and add double bars for some time now.  Originally it was supposed to be for me, but now it's for the baby (a sacrifice that I'm willing to make).  It ended up being a little bit wider than we intended but the amount of storage we have in this closet has multiplied tremendously in comparison to the one bar and one shelf that was there before.  We painted the tower and shelves with some leftover paint from the living room so that was free, but I added a little "pop-o-color" with some double-sided tape and some scrap book paper.  This closet at one time was filled to the brim with my clothes, craft stuff, blankets, Stevie's uniforms, and junk.  So to see it this "us" free should tell you how much we've gotten rid of.  Anywhoo...I am claiming the top and bottom shelf for my cricut and some craft supplies, I don't think Hughes will mind; I am giving him a place to live you know.

A BIG thanks to my sweet Stevie for building and painting (a chore he despises more than pretty much anything)!  Love you hon!

Nursery News "Issue 1"

So I don't want anyone to think that I wanted to have a child just so I could have an excuse to decorate a nursery, something I have always wanted to do.  It just happens to be an added bonus.  I mean really, what woman doesn't dream about decorating a baby's room?  I would be lying if I didn't admit that I was looking for ideas long before we even began talking about having a baby.  Anyway, I decided that I wanted to have my bedding made, nothing against pre-made bedding, just wanted it to be one-of-a-kind.

First I found my inspiration at a site I absolutely love...Lay Baby Lay.  The site features posts with themes (I use this term loosely; you don't look at any of them and say, "Oh, that's a _________ theme."), maybe I should call them concepts instead of themes.  Anyway, the posts show different room components such as crib, artwork, lighting, rugs, throw pillows, etc.  I'm kind of a vintage/rustic girl, so I fell for the rustic farmer concept.  Now mind you I don't have anything that is exactly like anything posted, just used it as a design board.

So, I searched etsy for a quilt, found it (kind of).  Border had flowers, and because husband is a flower-phob, we're having it custom made without the floral border and squares.  Next, came fabric :)  I won't really talk about it much because you can see for yourself.  Would like to point out though, the dust ruffle fabric is a pale yellow ticking (hard to tell in picture) and the sheet is minky dot.  Think I may get a minky dot sheet made for my bed too, it's wonderful.  Also ordered a couple of fabrics that will be used in the quilt.  You'll see those at the end.

Found this old milk crate and vintage magazine cover at an antique store that will go nicely with our vintage/rustic concept.
